Why can't I view the car before bidding?

Sellers cannot host viewings for every interested bidder, so bidding happens first, based on the full vehicle details and financials published for every car. If your bid is successful and the seller accepts, you receive an exclusive viewing and test drive before completing your purchase — bid first, view and test drive if you win.

Why are there no photos of the actual car?

Cars on Car Drops are owner-listed and released before they enter traditional retail inventory, so professional photos of the actual unit don’t exist yet. Any photos shown are illustrative — they give you an idea of the model you are bidding on, not the exact car. And you never commit sight unseen: if your bid is successful, you view and test drive the actual car before completing anything.

What happens if I have the highest bid?

If your bid is the successful bid, we’ll present your offer to the seller. The seller can choose whether to accept the offer. If accepted, we’ll arrange an exclusive viewing of the vehicle with you.

Is the seller required to accept the highest bid?

No. Car Drops helps buyers submit competitive offers directly to vehicle owners, but the seller retains the final decision on whether to accept an offer.

Can I inspect the car before completing the purchase?

Yes. If your bid is successful you view and test drive the car before completing the purchase — a Carousell Autos car expert can accompany you, and we can arrange an independent inspection if you want additional peace of mind.

What does the Buy Now price mean?

Accepted Answer

Some cars show a Buy Now price. Bid exactly that amount and you win the Drop instantly — nobody can outbid you. Winning at the Buy Now price is the start of your purchase, not the payment: as with every winning bid, our team contacts you to arrange viewing and complete the transaction. If someone has already locked the Buy Now price, you can still match it to join the queue — first in line gets the car if the buyer ahead falls through.

Do I have to buy the car if my bid is accepted?

Your bid should represent a genuine intention to purchase. After seller acceptance, you’ll have an opportunity to view the vehicle and understand its condition before completing the transaction. If there are material issues with the vehicle that affect your decision, speak to our Carousell Autos team before proceeding.

Is my bid binding?

Please only bid if you are genuinely prepared to purchase the vehicle at your submitted price. Once submitted, bids cannot normally be withdrawn while the bidding process is ongoing. Your bid remains subject to seller acceptance and the subsequent vehicle viewing/inspection process.

Can I see what others are bidding?

No — Car Drops is a sealed auction. You see each car’s starting price and its Buy Now price (when shown), and whether you currently hold the #1, #2 or #3 bid — never anyone else’s amounts.

Cars are sold in their current condition, direct from their owners. You view the car before completing the purchase, and Carousell Autos can help arrange inspection, servicing, repairs or refurbishment where needed.
